Real Tennis Fantasy League launches for 2025-26
The League returns for its second full season. Who will stop Nino Merola from back-to-back wins?
The Real Tennis Fantasy League has been launched for the 2025-26 season, and registrations are open to take part in the upcoming season. Building on the success of last season, the League returns with a few rule changes and some exciting new formats.
The main headline: Head to rtfantasyleague.com before the 21st September and sign up before the season opener, the French Open.
What’s different this year, then? The concept stays the same, but the remit is a little different. The four national Opens and all IRTPA points tournaments remain on the schedule, but now the League dabbles with handicap tournaments for the first time by introducing the Seacourt Silver Racquet. We also embrace three ‘team events’ for the first time; the IRTPA Super League, US National League Super Event and the World Doubles Championship. Here you will only pick one team, but the points rewards are much bigger as well.
There’s also more opportunities to pick up points as well during events. Qualifying and satellite matches will now earn players points for the first time; and there are bonuses for doing well in the doubles events as well. There’s also a ban on players picking the same squad member three times (“triple-picking”) — though double-picking will still be allowed.
How do I get involved? Head to rtfantasyleague.com, click the “Sign Up” button on the left panel and follow the instructions. If you played last year registration is super easy - click the green “Renew” button and fill out your previous credentials. If you’re playing for the first time, click the blue “Register” button and follow the instructions.
You can also mention the League to all your tennis friends and professional team, and spread the word far and wide.
Do I have to pay for any of this? None whatsoever. It’s free to play though donations towards my running costs are always welcome. More details about that are on the website.
Who are the people to beat? There are targets firmly on the back of Nino Merola, Rob Shenkman and Sammy Legg. They finished in the top three (by some distance!) and will want to re-establish their dominance for next season.
Over 75 people signed up last season representing clubs all over the world. It would be great to see that figure beaten this season.
Lastly, all the latest news and developments on the League can be found through our WhatsApp Channel here.
Reckon you’ve got the skills, knowledge and strategy to triumph this year? Sign up today, and best of luck!
